Despite Weather

The Doctors Clinic Opens on Bainbridge Island

Dec 03, 2007

Bainbridge Island - The Doctors Clinic opened its doors and heart to the people of Bainbridge Island despite power outages, record rains and wind. The ribbons were officially cut at 2 PM. Power was restored to the 945 Hildebrand Building less than a half hour prior.

“The staff started making calls to patients to reschedule appointments when suddenly the lights came on,” says Linda Brown, Chief Executive Officer of The Doctors Clinic. “It was not a typical opening day.”

Regardless of the weather, many people decided to keep their opening day appointments. Several walk-ins also received needed medical care. “We are happy to be open. We look forward to fulfilling healthcare needs on Bainbridge Island,” says Brown.

The Doctors Clinic Bainbridge Island facility is the new home for three local primary care physicians. Dr. Robert Hurlow and Dr. Maureen Koval perform lifespan family medicine, including pre-natal care, women’s health and geriatrics. Pediatrician, Thomas Monk specializes in treating children.

The Doctors Clinic Bainbridge Island has on-site digital imaging, laboratory services and access to the large network of specialists and surgeons within The Doctors Clinic organization.

The 4,900 square foot clinic is located in on the first floor of the 945 Building on Hildebrand Lane NE. Clinic Hours are 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Appointments can be made by calling (206)-855-7700.

Filling the Local Healthcare Gap:

New Clinic Opening On Bainbridge Island

November 2, 2007

BAINBRIDGE ISLAND —The Doctors Clinic is busy preparing the space of a new medical facility to serve the residents of Bainbridge Island. According to The Doctors Clinic president, Brian P. Wicks, “The Bainbridge Island Clinic will fill the gap in local medical services by giving access to the broad range of primary, specialty and urgent care services offered by the premier multi-specialty medical group in the West Sound region.”

The Doctors Clinic Bainbridge Island will be anchored by three full-time primary care physicians who live on the Island and are intimately familiar with the community’s healthcare needs. Islanders will benefit from on-site specialty care and access to a large network of board-certified specialists within The Doctors Clinic organization. Says Wicks, “By bringing in specialists and surgeons, The Doctors Clinic will provide comprehensive care to the Island at a level not previously seen.”

In addition to primary and specialty care, The Doctors Clinic Bainbridge Island will have on-site digital imaging and laboratory services.

The clinic is spacious. Craftsman styling and rich earth tones will give the patient-friendly floor plan a residential quality. “Patient comfort is an important component in the design of this warm and inviting environment,” comments Wicks.

With travel to Seattle becoming more expensive and difficult, The Doctors Clinic Bainbridge Island will allow residents to have their healthcare needs met in a relaxing setting closer to home.

The 4,900 square foot clinic will be located on the first floor of the 945 Building on Hildebrand Lane NE and is slated to open early December.

Duty Calls, Poulsbo Doctor Answers

North Kitsap Herald, Nov 06 2007

POULSBO — Some kids dream of growing up to be doctors, others hope to earn their wings as pilots, but Roger Ludwig Jr. wanted to do both. And now he is.

A family practice physician and senior aviation medical examiner at The Doctors Clinic in Poulsbo, Dr. Roger Ludwig Jr. is also a part of the 142nd Fighter Wing, 142nd Medical Group and 123rd Redhawk Fighter Squadron of the Oregon Air National Guard, and he’ll be taking his medical expertise to Baghdad, Iraq this month.

“I’ve always been a part-timer,” he said lightly of his military involvement, which he began in Portland, Ore. in 1998 during his medical residency. But there’s nothing part-time about his commitment. Despite a country torn over U.S. military presence in Iraq, Ludwig said supporting American troops is a duty he will not forsake.

“It’s not our decision to question what we’re being asked to do,” he said. “It’s our obligation to serve as we’ve promised.”

Though he’s served in Denmark, Iceland, Belize and various places throughout America for sometimes a month at a time, Ludwig said this will be the longest assignment he’s had away from his family, and his first experience in Iraq.

“She’s always been very supportive,” he said of his wife, Michele. He plans to keep in contact with her and their two children, Marissa and Wesley, via webcam.

And while his tour, which is expected to finish in January, will keep him from home for 10 weeks, Ludwig is looking forward to the opportunity to get back into the cockpit of the F-15 Eagles he loves.

“It’s an alter ego,” he said. “That’s the advantage.”

Ludwig, a flight surgeon, will serve at Camp Sather, the Air National Guard’s Emergency Medical Station located at Baghdad International Airport. With a mission to serve troops in the area, Ludwig said he expects for the most part to attend to minor traumas, air evacuations and general troop health.

“It had been a very busy location, but now as Baghdad calms, the emergency medical station calms,” he said. “From what I’m hearing from doctors in the area the trauma is way down.”

Ludwig’s last day at The Doctors Clinic is Nov. 8. He will begin seeing patients again Jan. 28, 2008, providing his tour is completed as scheduled. Fellow physicians at the clinic will provide care to his patients during his absence.

Ludwig has been with The Doctors Clinic since 2000, and is a member of the North Kitsap Rotary and the American Legion. He lives with his family in Silverdale.

The Doctors Clinic Continues to Grow in 2007.
