Medicare pays for very few services that they have determined are routine, including a Preventive Medicine Service or Routine Physical. Medicare generally will not make or provide payment for services such as these that are not related to a medical or surgical condition, or used to treat an illness or injury.
Our providers feel very strongly about, and highly recommend you receive an annual health assessment as it is important for prevention, uncovering conditions not yet apparent and to establish a running baseline compare to in future examinations.
The Doctors Clinic provides Annual Wellness Visits for patients 65 and older as an add on visit with your provider.
A Wellness Visit provides an opportunity to update overdue screening tests and immunizations. You can discuss and learn how to improve your health or how to minimize the impact of existing medical conditions.
This visit is billed in addition to your regular office visit with your provider and is covered 100% by Medicare, Medicare Advantage plans and most other insurances.
During a Wellness Visit, a nurse working with your provider will:
- Review, recommend, and order preventative/wellness services such as colonoscopies and mammograms.
- Provide recommended immunizations.
- Provide a written plan to help remind you of future preventative/wellness examinations and services you will need during the next 5-10 years.
